SPONGOSTAN® Sponge Hemostat is an absorbable gelatin sponge that provides primarily mechanical hemostasis. It is capable of absorbing large volumes of blood and fluid while at the same time, providing a physical matrix to which platelets adhere, thus facilitating platelet plug formation. SPONGOSTAN® is often used in neurosurgery, cardiovascular, peripheral vascular surgery, orthopedics, general surgery (hemorrhoidectomy sponge).
